Ingredients

  • 3 small pears
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil melted
  • 2 teaspoon maple syrup
  • ¼ teaspoon cardamom more to preference

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer at 360F / 190C for 3 minutes.
  • Wash the pears, then slice lengthways so you have two halves. Use a small spoon to scoop out the seeds, and a sharp knife to remove the ends. Leave the stalk or not to preference.
  • Combine the melted coconut oil, maple syrup and cardamom in a small bowl and stir well.
  • Line the air fryer basket with parchment paper, then place the pears cut side up in the basket. Brush the pears with the maple syrup mixture, and spoon a little into the centres where you removed the core (you may have some leftover).
  • Air fry at 375F / 190C for 10-15 minutes. Timing will vary slightly depending upon the size of the pears, and your preference for texture.
  • Drizzle with a little extra maple syrup if you like, and dust with cardamom. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • Pears can brown fairly quickly once cut, so have all your ingredients ready to use before you slice the pears.
  • Slice the pears so both halves are roughly the same size. This will help them cook evenly.
  • Swap cardamom for cinnamon if you prefer.
  • Check the pears after 10 minutes to see how soft they are. Continue to air fry to the texture you prefer.
  • Don't overcook the pears as they can become too soft and mushy.
  • Be careful when removing the pears from the air fryer as the basket will be very hot.
