Air Fryer Frozen Butternut Squash

Easy side dishes are always a good idea, and this air fryer frozen butternut squash couldn't be more simple! Vegan, gluten free and low histamine vegetable side dish.

  • Preheat the air fryer at 370F / 190C for 3 minutes.
  • Add the butternut squash cubes, olive oil, dried thyme, garlic powder and salt to a bowl. Stir with a spoon to coat the squash in the oil and seasonings.
  • Place the butternut squash in an even layer in your air fryer basket and air fry for 12-18 minutes at 370F / 190C. Check the basket after 10 minutes to see how well the squash cubes are cooked through. Then check every 4-5 minutes, and either stir or give it a good shake.
  • Cook time will vary slightly depending upon the thickness of the cubes of butternut squash. If needed, continue to air fry at intervals of 3 minutes.
  • Remove the butternut squash cubes from the air fryer carefully as the basket will be very hot.

Notes

  • If you are dicing the butternut squash yourself to freeze, I suggest cutting into roughly similar size cubes so they air fry more evenly when you come to cook them.
  • Evenly coat the squash cubes in oil and seasonings.
  • Air fry the butternut squash in a single layer for an even cook time.
  • Cook time will vary depending upon the size of your butternut squash cubes. If they are on the larger side, they may need a little longer cook time.
  • The butternut squash cubes should be tender with slight browning to the edges.
  • Always be careful when removing the vegetables from the air fryer basket as it will be very hot.
