Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups cottage cheese plain, unflavored
  • 2 teaspoon honey
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon cardamom
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract optional

Instructions

  • Add the cottage cheese, cinnamon, cardamom, honey and vanilla extract (if using) to a bowl. Stir to combine.
  • Optional: for a smoother whipped cottage cheese, transfer to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
  • Spoon into your serving bowl, drizzle on some extra honey if you like and serve with fruit, fruit kabobs or sweet crackers.

Notes

  • Use a good quality unflavored cottage cheese (not one that already has fruit, herbs or other flavorings already added).
  • Adjust the amount of spice to taste preference.
  • As well as being a dip, you can also enjoy this recipe as a cottage cheese spread on toast or crackers.
  • My low histamine readers should note that raspberries are debated in terms of histamine, so only use with the dip if well tolerated.
  • Nutritional information is auto-generated and should be understood to be an estimate.

Swiss Interest Group Histamine Intolerance
All ingredients score 0 on the SIGHI list, with the exception of:
  • cottage cheese isn't rated on the list for MCAS, but is rated as low histamine on their histamine potential of food page.
  • cinnamon scores 0, but is higher on other lists. Use more cardamom instead if better for you. Cardamom scores 0, with a note that some varieties may not be tolerated.
  • vanilla extract scores 1, with a ? as a liberator. It's optional, so leave out if untolerated.
