- 4 red apples
- 2 peaches
- 1 teaspoon maple syrup
- ¼ cup water
Peel the apples and peaches. Remove the stones from the peaches and the cores from the apples. Dice into small bite-size pieces.
Tip the apples and peaches into a large pot, drizzle in the maple syrup and pour in the water. Bring to a medium heat so the water comes to a boil. Lower the heat to a light simmer and cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. If the apples aren't fork tender, cook for a further few minutes.
Allow to cool, then transfer the mixture to a blender and blend to a thick peach apple sauce. If you prefer a thinner sauce, add a little water and blend again.
- Using an apple corer is an easy way to remove the cores.
- Adjust the ratio of the fruits if you like, with more apples or peaches to preference.
- The apples should be fork tender. If not, cook for another few minutes before blending.
- The sauce is sweet as it is, but for those with a very sweet tooth you can increase the amount of maple syrup.
- To thin the sauce, add a little more water and blend again.
