⭐ Why this recipe is so good
Packed with fresh fruit. We use fresh apples and peaches for that delicious sweetness that comes with a homemade fruit sauce.
Refined sugar free. Instead of white sugar, we use a touch of maple syrup to add a little extra sweetness. I suggest this makes it a little better as a homemade peach applesauce for babies and kids. You can leave the maple syrup out if you prefer.
Super simple to make. Just a little prep of the fruit, then we cook them up and blend to a sumptuous peach and apple sauce.
🍑 Ingredients
All the ingredients and their quantities are set out in the recipe card below.
Some notes to help guide you:
- Peaches - look for ripe peaches so they have the best sweetness, and ones that do not have wrinkled skin as they will be older produce.
- Apples - I suggest to use red apples rather than green apples as they have more sweetness.
- Maple syrup - to add a touch of extra sweetness.
📖 Swaps and variations
Adjust the peach and apple ratio. If you love the peach flavors more, then add another peach and use less apples!
Add some spices. If you like a hint of spice, a sprinkle of ground ginger, cinnamon or cardamom is delicious.
Leave out the maple syrup. The sauce has a natural sweetness from the fruit, so if you want a fruit sauce without added sugar you can leave the maple syrup out.
🔪 Step by step instructions
Making this homemade peach applesauce is very simple, with just a few ingredients and a few recipe steps:
Step 1: Prep the fruit
Peel the apples and peaches. De-core the apples, and removes the stones from the peaches. Dice into small pieces (image 1).
Step 2: Cook the peach apple sauce
Add the diced fruit, maple syrup and water to a pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to a very light simmer. Cook for 20 minutes or until the apples are fork tender (image 2).
Step 3: Add the fruit to a blender
Allow the fruit to cool, then transfer the cooked peaches and apples mixture to a blender or food processor (image 3).
Step 4: Blend the sauce
Blend to a thick sauce. If you like it thinner, add a touch of water and re-blend (image 4).
💭 Recipe tips and notes
- I do suggest peeling the peaches and apples. It gives the sauce a much smoother texture.
- If you like a more 'peachy' flavor, add another peach and use one less apple.
- For those with a sweet tooth, you can add a touch more maple syrup to taste.
- If you like a thinner sauce, add a tablespoon more water to the blender and blend again. I don't suggest to add too much water or it can make the sauce lose the fruity flavor!

Yes, we use maple syrup instead of white sugar to make it refined sugar free.

📖 Recipe
Peach Applesauce
Equipment
Ingredients
- 4 red apples
- 2 peaches
- 1 teaspoon maple syrup
- ¼ cup water
Instructions
- Peel the apples and peaches. Remove the stones from the peaches and the cores from the apples. Dice into small bite-size pieces.
- Tip the apples and peaches into a large pot, drizzle in the maple syrup and pour in the water. Bring to a medium heat so the water comes to a boil. Lower the heat to a light simmer and cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. If the apples aren't fork tender, cook for a further few minutes.
- Allow to cool, then transfer the mixture to a blender and blend to a thick peach apple sauce. If you prefer a thinner sauce, add a little water and blend again.
Notes
- Using an apple corer is an easy way to remove the cores.
- Adjust the ratio of the fruits if you like, with more apples or peaches to preference.
- The apples should be fork tender. If not, cook for another few minutes before blending.
- The sauce is sweet as it is, but for those with a very sweet tooth you can increase the amount of maple syrup.
- To thin the sauce, add a little more water and blend again.
