So fun and fruity, this cucumber melon agua fresca is so perfect as a sweet and refreshing summer drink! It's simple to make with the typical agua fresca method, uses just 3 easy to find ingredients and is loved by kids and adults alike.
Both melon and cucumber are so refreshing for summer drinks, and my family loves both my melon mocktail and cucumber mocktail when we're having a BBQ or a fun celebration. This cucumber melon agua fresca combines both these refreshing sweet flavors, is so easy to make but feels a little fancy I think!
We use cantaloupe melon for this recipe, but it can easily be swapped out for another type of melon such as honeydew or watermelon (see notes below if you're here for low histamine recipes). Then, just like my blueberry agua fresca, we blend the fruit with water and a sweetener for a deliciously light, refreshing and hydrating drink. It's so simple but feels like such a treat!

⭐ Why this recipe is so good
Sweet and refreshing. There's something about fruit drinks on a hot summer's day that are just so good, and this combination of melon and cucumber is so hydrating.
Just 3 ingredients. Simply pick up your fresh fruits and maple syrup at the store - that's it!
Easy method. We make this cucumber melon drink by blending and straining the ingredients, with just a little hands-on prep time.
🍈 Ingredients
All the ingredients and their quantities are set out in the recipe card below.
Some notes on a few of them:
- Cucumber - I suggest to use either English cucumber (which is my preference) or Persian cucumbers. You want to peel them before blending for a lighter drink.
- Melon - you can use any type of sweet melon, but if you're looking for low histamine recipes, then I would suggest cantaloupe melon, honeydew melon or galia melon (melon (other than watermelon) scores 0 on the SIGHI list, but please see notes below for more info).
- Maple syrup - to add sweetness to the juice.
📖 Swaps and variations
Adjust the ratio of cucumber and melon. I tend to use more melon for sweetness, but you can easily have half and half, or more cucumber if you like.
Add lemon juice or lime juice. This likely isn't suitable for my low histamine readers, but you can add a squeeze if citrus works for you.
🔪 Step by step instructions
Making this cucumber melon agua fresca is very easy to do, with just a couple of recipe steps and a handful of ingredients.
All the instructions are set out in the recipe card below, but these step by step photos should help guide you.
Step 1: Blend cucumber and melon
Add peeled and diced cucumber and melon to a blender, along with still water and maple syrup (image 1). Blend to a smooth thick juice-like consistency.
Step 2: Strain the juice
Place a fine mesh sieve over a bowl or pitcher and pour the juice through to remove the foam and pulp (image 2). Set aside in the fridge for about 30 minutes to chill. Add ice to your glass and pour in your melon cucumber drink. Garnish with fresh mint leaves to serve!
💭 Recipe tips and notes
- Make sure to remove the seeds from the melon and peel the cucumber!
- Use perfectly ripe melon so it has the best delicious sweetness.
- Straining the drink is optional, but gives you a lighter drink if you prefer it.
- Give the juice a good stir before serving as it will very slightly separate over time.
