🍎 Ingredients

individually labelled cottage cheese, apples, maple syrup, cardamom or cinnamon, pumpkin seeds and shelled hemp seeds.

All the ingredients and their quantities are set out in the recipe card below.

Some notes on a few of them:

  • Cottage cheese - I tend to use full-fat cottage cheese as it has a creamier taste, but you can use the type you prefer. If you like a smoother texture, you can whip cottage cheese in the blender before use.
  • Apple - I suggest to use a red apple such as Honey Crisp for a sweet taste, or green apple for a more tart flavor.
  • Cardamon - to add a little spice. Cinnamon can also be used, if you tolerate it well.

📖 Swaps and Variations

Add more fruit! For a cottage cheese and fruit bowl you can of course add berries, pear, mango or pomegranate, depending on what works for you!

Top with some granola or fruit sauce. A handful of my chia seed granola would give a nice crunch, and my apple blueberry sauce is so easy to make.

🔪 How to Make Cottage Cheese and Apple Bowls

It's so easy to make these sweet cottage cheese bowls with the cheese, apples and seeds. No cook time, and they come together in about 10 minutes.

All the instructions are in the recipe card below, but these step by step photos should help guide you.

Step 1: Mix cottage cheese and apple

De-core the apple and grate half. Spoon into your serving bowl with the cottage cheese and stir to combine. Sprinkle in the cardamom and stir again (image 1).

Step 2: Add your toppings!

Dice the other half of the apple and add to your cottage cheese bowl with other fruits (if you like), plus the hemp and pumpkin seeds. Drizzle with maple syrup (image 2).

💭 Recipe Tips and Notes

  • Grate and dice the apple just before serving as it can brown quickly.
  • Make this a mixed cottage cheese and fruit bowl by adding other berries or fruits!
  • I tend to use cardamom as I love the flavor, but cinnamon can also be used. Just note that it is a debated spice if you're a low histamine reader.
