⭐ Why this recipe is so good

Deliciously sweet fruit. Passion fruit is a little overlooked I feel, and this mocktail makes the most of this fragrant fruit.

No cook time. All we need to do is combine ingredients and do some muddling!

Super quick. It takes just 5 minutes to come together, giving you more time to spend with friends and family.

🍎 Ingredients

individually labelled ingredients to make passion fruit mocktail including mint, apple juice and sparkling water.

All the ingredients and their quantities are set out in the recipe card below.

Some notes on a few of them:

  • Passion fruit - make sure they are deep purple / brown in colour so you know they are ripe with a bit of wrinkling of the skin.
  • Mint leaves - definitely fresh not dried!
  • Sparkling water - I suggest using a plain water rather than flavoured or a heavy mineralised one as that would alter the flavour of the mocktail.

📖 Swaps and variations

Adjust ratios. We all have different tastes, with some loving a really sweet mocktail, others more of a hint of fruit. Change up the ratio of fruit and water to preference!

🔪 Step by step instructions

Just a few steps to make this passion fruit mocktail and all are easy to do:

a spoonful of passion fruit seeds above a wooden board of passion fruits and mint labelled number one.
glass pitcher of fruit juice and passion fruit seeds labelled number two.

Step 1

Scoop the seeds out of the passion fruit with a small spoon (image 1).

Step 2

Add the passion fruit seeds, mint, apple juice and sparkling water to a pitcher or large jar (image 2).

passion fruit mocktail in a pitcher being stirred with a mint plant in the background labelled number three..
strainer over a glass with passion fruit seeds and mint in it labelled number four.

Step 3

Stir the mocktail mixture well, giving the mint a bit of a muddle if you like to bring out the essence (image 3).

Step 4

Place a small strainer over your glass and pour in the mocktail. Allow the liquid to run through (image 4). Add ice cubes to your glass if you like, and some passion fruit seeds to preference.

💭 Recipe tips and notes

  • Use perfectly ripe passion fruit. If they are green then they definitely aren't ripe, so pick dark purple / brown fruit with some wrinkling to the skin.
  • Add more bubbles! Like a longer drink or just more bubbles? Simply top your glass with more sparkling water.
  • Add honey. Personally I think it is sweet enough without, but if you have a sweet tooth you can drizzle in some honey too.

Hi, I’m Claire. After a diagnosis of MCAS I began to follow a low histamine diet, which has helped me manage my symptoms. Here I hope to show that a restrictive diet can still be full of flavourful meals, and help you enjoy being creative in the kitchen.
