⭐ Why you'll love this recipe

    • Healthy junk food - these are indulgent and so moreish but with all healthy ingredients.
    • A change from regular fries - using sweet potato makes a nice change, and the flavour is so good.
    • Easy to make - super simple recipe with just a few steps.

    💭 What is sweet paprika?

Most of us are well-versed with hot and smoked paprika, but perhaps aren't so familiar with sweet paprika. It doesn't have the same spicy 'kick' as hot paprika, but I think its milder sweetness works wonderfully on potato wedges and many other dishes.

    🍠 Ingredients

sweet potatoes, olive oil, sweet paprika and cinnamon.

All the ingredients and their quantities are set out in the recipe card below.

You only need five ingredients for this recipe:

    • Sweet potato - choose as fresh as you can without skin that is too wrinkly.
    • Sweet paprika - the main flavour, it adds a nice sweet taste. The Szeged sweet paprika is good.
    • Cinnamon - optional but gives a hint of spice.
    • Olive oil - to coat the sweet potato to bake.
    • Salt - to season.

    🔪 Step by step instructions

Just a few simple steps to make this sweet potato wedges side dish:

uncooked sweet potato wedges on a baking tray.

    Step 1

Once the oven is at temperature, place the sweet potato wedges on a lined baking tray. Drizzle over the olive oil and then season with the sweet paprika, cinnamon (if using) and salt. Spread into an even layer and bake for 25-40 minutes. Cook time will vary slightly depending upon how big the wedges are.

    Step 2

Serve as a side (or maybe just on their own!) and enjoy!

    💭 Recipe tips and notes

    • The bake-time will depend on the chunkiness of the wedges, so I would suggest checking on them after 25-30 minutes and adding more time if necessary.
    • Adjust the amount of spice to taste preference.

    🍽 How to serve

I think serving fries (or wedges in this case!) with dip is always fun, and perfect for game day or casual celebrations with friends and family. Some ideas:

    • salt to taste

    Instructions

    • Preheat the oven to 200C and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
    • Place the wedges on the baking tray and drizzle olive oil over the potatoes. Sprinkle over the sweet paprika, cinnamon and pink Himalayan salt. Give them a good shake so the potatoes are all covered. Spread out on the baking tray in a single layer.
