yellow and red mini peppers on a light grey plate next to a small bowl of oil dressing.

Much like my cream cheese stuffed mini peppers and ricotta stuffed peppers, these air fryer mini sweet peppers are so good for so many occasions! Perfect for game day? Check. Perfect as party food? Check. Perfect as a kid-friendly snack (and gets them to eat their veggies)? Check.

Easy to make, we use a tasty oil and herb coating and then air fry them up in just 10 minutes or so. Pair with other finger food such as my red bell pepper salsa, cottage cheese dill dip, whipped ricotta crostini, air fryer romaine lettuce and air fried pita chips for a tasty spread of plates.

⭐ Why this recipe is so good

Fun party food favorite. There's something very cute about mini peppers and they are perfect as finger food for both kids and adults alike.

Dunkable(!) Enjoy or their own, or perhaps pair with a dip to make them even more fun.

Easy to make. Simple coat in the herb oil dressing, and then air fry to bring out their delicious sweetness.

🌶 Ingredients

individually labelled ingredients to make air fryer mini peppers including olive oil, garlic powder and herbs.

All the ingredients and their quantities are set out in the recipe card below.

Some notes on a few of them:

  • Mini peppers - you want to use the sweet mini peppers rather than hot peppers. They are a little more easy to find in the store in the summer months, and are red and yellow in color.
  • Mixed herbs - I suggest using those you like best, or a ready-prepared mix such as Italian seasoning or herbes de Provence. Have a peek at my Italian seasoning substitutes post for lots of ideas of herb blends!

📖 Swaps and variations

Use mixed herbs to preference, or a single herb such as dried thyme if you prefer.

Adjust the amount of garlic powder to taste preference, or leave out altogether if you prefer.

🔪 Step by step instructions

Making these air fryer mini peppers is very simple, with just a few quick steps:

mini peppers being de-seeded with a small spoon on a wooden board labelled number one.

Step 1

Prepare the mini peppers. Slice the mini peppers lengthways, cutting through the stalk. Remove the seeds with a small spoon but leave the stalk on (image 1).

mini peppers coated in olive oil in a glass bowl on a blue cloth.

Step 2

Coat the peppers in dressing. Add the mini peppers to a bowl and drizzle in the oil. Sprinkle over the garlic powder, mixed herbs, salt and black pepper and toss to coat the peppers (image 2).

mini peppers in an air fryer basket labelled number three.

Step 3

Air fry the mini peppers. After preheating your air fryer, use tongs to place the peppers in your air fryer basket in an even layer. Cook for 7-12 minutes, to the level of 'char' you like, flipping with tongs after about 5 minutes.

💭 Expert recipe tips and notes

  • Cook time will vary slightly, depending upon the size of your mini sweet bell peppers and whether your air fryer tends to run hot.
  • Always check the basket after 5 minutes to see how charred the mini peppers are, then continue to air fry as needed.
  • The herbs and garlic are optional, but give a nice flavor!

📋 Frequently asked questions

What do mini peppers taste like?

Mini peppers have a lovely sweetness when 'roasted' in the air fryer.

Are mini peppers hot or spicy?

Mini sweet peppers are not hot or spicy, but have a mild sweetness.

How long do you air fry mini peppers for?

Air frying mini peppers takes between seven and twelve minutes depending upon the size of the peppers, how charred you like them and how hot your air fryer tends to run.

🍽 How to serve cooked mini peppers

  • If you're into your air fryer (like I am!) then they work so well as a side for my air fryer turkey burgers or air fried boneless chicken thighs.
  • Serve with other appetizers such as my beetroot dip and cottage cheese tzatziki for parties and entertaining.
  • Enjoy as a simple and healthy snack, or as a side for salads, baked potatoes or sandwiches.

Ingredients

  • 8 mini bell peppers (sweet not hot peppers)
  • ½ tablespoon olive oil
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning or mixed herbs
  • pinch salt
  • pinch black pepper

Instructions
