⭐ Why this recipe is so good

Full of fruity flavor. The frozen mango gives the best creamy tropical vibe, and the cherries are so tasty!

Healthy. Both fruits provide a host of nutrients, with mango being rich in antioxidants, as Healthline describes.

Quick and easy. With just a few ingredients, you can head to the freezer and pantry to put this cherry and mango smoothie together!

    🍒 Ingredients

individually labelled ingredients to make mango cherry smoothie including almond butter, milk and frozen mango.

All the ingredients and their quantities are set out in the recipe card below.

Some notes on a few of them:

    • Mango - you want to use frozen mango chunks for a creamy and thick smoothie.
    • Cherries - fresh or frozen cherries both work well. Make sure to pit if using fresh cherries!
    • Hemp seeds - be sure to use shelled hemp seeds (also known as hulled hemp or hemp hearts).

    📖 Swaps and variations

Swap almond butter for another nut or seed butter. Each will flavor the smoothie a little differently, but use the nut or seed butter you like best.

Use the non-dairy milk that works best for you. Personally I like coconut milk (the type in a carton rather than a can) or almond milk, but use the type that suits you best. I make this as a dairy free cherry smoothie, but you can use dairy if you prefer.

    🔪 Step by step instructions

Making this mango cherry smoothie is very simple, and has just a few steps:

ingredients to make mango cherry smoothie in a blender cup next to a blender and bowl of cherries labelled number one.
pink smoothie in a blender in front of a white tiled wall labelled number two.

    Step 1

Add all the ingredients to your blender cup (image 1).

Just a note to pit and remove the stems of your cherries if using fresh ones first!

    Step 2

Blend up to a thick cherry smoothie! (image 2). You may need to scrape the sides of the blender down a few times.

Adjust with a little ice or more milk to taste preference.

    💭 Recipe tips and notes

    • Using frozen mango chunks will give a thick creamy smoothie. If using fresh mango I would suggest reducing the amount of milk a touch and adding ice.
    • You may need to scrape the sides of the blender down a few times.
    • Make sure to remove the stems and stones of the cherries if using fresh ones! Cherry pits are actually dangerous to consume, so use a cherry pitter to remove them.
    • Adjust with more non-dairy milk for a thinner consistency.

    📋 Frequently asked questions

Is this mango cherry smoothie made without yogurt?

Yes, we don't use yogurt in this recipe or banana. This makes it suitable as a vegan cherry smoothie and also a low histamine breakfast idea for my readers with this dietary requirement. Have a peek at my yogurt substitutes for smoothies post for more ideas!

Is it better to use fresh or frozen mango and cherries?

You can use either, but I suggest using frozen for at least of the fruits to help thicken the smoothie.

Is this a mango breakfast smoothie?

It can be served as a light breakfast smoothie as it has a little protein from the almond butter and hemp seeds.

Is this an anti-inflammatory mango smoothie?

Mangos are rich in many nutrients and antioxidants, including vitamin B6, vitamin C and polyphenols, as Healthline's overview of the health benefits of mango describes. In their review of the health benefits of cherries, they point out that this fruit is high in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds.
