I always love to look back and see which of the low histamine recipes here on the site you enjoyed the most - and these are the most viewed for 2021!

We have quite a mix, from power bowls to chia pudding to soup and cookies of course! Something for all your meals and snacks I think.

I hope that you find something new to enjoy, or perhaps an older recipe you haven't tried for a while. Lots more recipes to come for 2022 so check back for more tasty ideas compliant with the SIGHI list, and a low histamine diet.

1. Low histamine salad bowl

Always the number one recipe here on the blog year after year! It desperately needs some new pics (on my list to do I promise!), but it's a hearty bowl packed with quinoa for plant-based protein, lots of veggies and a tahini dressing. Easy to make, and a fun lunch or light dinner.

2. Carrot cake porridge

A real favourite recipe of mine, and so cosy on a winter's day. Carrots have a natural sweetness when cooked, and go so well with the spices. I promise it doesn't taste of vegetables!

3. Coconut chicken skewers

These chicken skewers are perfect for summer BBQs or indoor grilling. Fun and easy, and perfect for all the family! If bell peppers don't work for you, then simply use zucchini or another vegetable.

4. Apple pie porridge

Another porridge recipe! So warming and cosy during the colder months, the apples go all gooey when cooked, and work perfectly with the spices.

5. Baked chicken with apples and honey

Always a favourite here on the blog! Baked chicken always makes for a hearty evening meal for all the family, and the combination of apples and honey gives just the right amount of sweetness. Serve with sides of your choice!

6. Creamy wild rice vegetable soup

I knew there had to be a soup in the top ten! This creamy wild rice soup is packed with healthy vegetables and rice, herbs and a dash of coconut milk to make it creamy and delicious. Perfect for a healthy lunch!

7. Coconut energy balls

Energy balls always go down well with you guys! And I can see why as they are a quick and easy sweet treat. Plus full of healthy ingredients too!

8. Blueberry coconut chia pudding

A fun breakfast or mid-afternoon snack, this blueberry coconut chia pudding is very simple to make. Chia is a good source of plant-based protein and fruit flavours it so well.

9. Coconut macadamia nut cookies

I knew that cookies would be up there on the list of favourite recipes! I'm a big fan of a healthy cookie for a treat, and it seems you guys have a sweet tooth also. These are easy to make, and come together quite quickly for your mid-afternoon snack!

10. Dairy-free pumpkin seed pesto

Pesto is one of my go-to recipes (for pesto pasta) for a busy weeknight dinner. Easy to make, with good wholesome ingredients and lots of flavour. As well as for pasta, you can also spread onto a sandwich or on rice cakes.

Hope you enjoyed this round-up of the favourite recipes on the blog in 2021! Perhaps you found one you haven't tried in a while, or a new recipe you haven't come across before.

I see on Sigghi that chicken is a high histamine. I also see that you and someone else who I follow has chicken recipes. So I can eat chicken even though it list as high histamine??? Thanks for your time.

Hi Marlene, it is actually rated as low histamine. The H! on the SIGHI list refers to the fact that it is highly perishable, with rapid formation of histamine (see the box on the first page). I would talk to a dietician about how the diet works in terms of food preparation that is suitable for your personal needs.

Hi, I’m Claire. After a diagnosis of MCAS I began to follow a low histamine diet, which has helped me manage my symptoms. Here I hope to show that a restrictive diet can still be full of flavourful meals, and help you enjoy being creative in the kitchen.
